The building of the first horse railway in Hungary

Construction began in 1838 and the first section of Bratislava - Svätý Jur was put into operation in 1840. The wagons were pulled by two pairs of horses. The train went back and forth once in the afternoon and back in the afternoon. The railway plans were drawn up by František Oto Hieronimi. The railway station building was built as the property of a private company. It was founded by 17 landowners who had property between Trnava and Bratislava. From 1873 the railway operated on steam power.
