The memorial of the Czechoslovak Army Corps in Dukla is situated in a slightly sloping terrain behind the village of Vyšný Komárnik on the right side of the main road near the Slovak-Polish state border. The monument was ceremoniously unveiled on October 2, 1949 on the occasion of the celebrations of the 5th anniversary of the Carpathian-Dukla operation, while since February 27, 1961 it has been a part of the national cultural monument Dukelské bojisko.

The pylon of the monument is 28 meters high and its shape symbolizes both the direction of the Soviet and Czechoslovak troops striking the German defense during the Carpathian-Duklian operation and the gateway of the entry of Czechoslovak soldiers into the territory of their homeland. Part of the monument is also a columbarium with a ceremonial hall, whose portal is decorated with reliefs depicting the battle path of the 1st MS. Army Corps in the USSR from Buzuluk to Prague. On the colonnade leading to the monument are placed bronze plaques, on which are engraved the names of 1265 members of the 1st MS. Army Corps in the USSR, who fell during the fighting in the Carpathian-Dukla operation. The complex of the memorial complex is completed in its northern part by the so-called The Alley of Heroes, which was founded in 1981 and consists of fifteen busts of Soviet and Czechoslovak heroes who excelled in the fighting of the Carpathian-Dukla operation. The busts are placed on stone-granite pedestals and are life-size. Part of the memorial is a war cemetery, where 565 fallen members of the 1st MS are buried. Army Corps in the USSR, who perished during the Carpathian-Dukla operation and in the fighting for northeastern Slovakia. It is interesting that on the occasion of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Carpathian-Duklian operation, a faithful artistic copy was placed on the memorial (this is the fourth statue, which has been part of the memorial since 1949) of the original statue of a Czechoslovak soldier paying homage to fallen comrades. placed on the memorial at its unveiling in 1949. Bronze sculpture I regret, the work of academic sculptor Ján Kulich, which was replaced by a faithful copy of the original statue of a Czechoslovak soldier, found its place in the modernized premises of the Dukla Lookout Tower, where it can continue to be admired by both locals and also foreign visitors.
