The Bukovec water reservoir was built between 1968 and 1976. In addition to supplying the population with drinking water, the reservoir also has a protective function.
The Bukovec reservoir is not open to the public, but it is an important habitat for waterfowl, amphibians and birds. The habitat is directly destined for the occurrence of larger numbers of amphibians, mammals, insects and reptiles. A number of protected bird species live and nest here. Its waters are home to the Black-headed Gull (Squalius cephalus), the Sandpiper (Sander lucioperca), the brown trout (Salmo trutta), the variegated blackbird (Phoxinus phoxinus) and the northern barbel (Barbus barbus).
The storage volume of the tank is about 25 million cubic meters.
The length of the dam is 2.8 kilometers.
The height of the dam above the ground is from 50 to 55 meters.
The locality is inaccessible for recreation and fishing, because the Decree of the I. zone of hygienic protection applies to its surroundings. The dam is guarded and there are cameras !!!
South of the large Bukovec artificial reservoir is the Bukovec castle.
Only the nearby and smaller water reservoir below Bukovec is open to the public.
