The heart of the Vihorlat Hills is formed by a enchanting lake, which is called Malé Morské Oko. This covered lake, perhaps some of you know even under the older name Malé Vihorlatské lake.

It was created by a gradual landslide in the environment of volcanic rocks and is a natural monument with the highest degree of protection. Compared to the Sea Eye, it is incomparably smaller - it occupies only 0.4ha and has a maximum depth of 4 meters.

The Little Sea Eye is part of the Vihorlat Forest and this lake, as well as the neighboring Sea Eye and its surroundings, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.
It can be described as crystal clear water, which has become home to crayfish, but also other aquatic animals or plants.

The Little Sea Eye is accessible by two routes. You can set off from the village of Remetské Hámre following the blue sign to Morský oko and then continue along the yellow sign to Malý Morský oko. But you can choose Zemplínske Hámre as a starting point and follow the yellow sign.
