The monastery is a popular tourist stop in the Slovak Paradise located near Suchá Belá or the Hornád Gorge. There are ancient ruins of a Carthusian monastery from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries.

The peace of the local ascetic monks has often been disturbed throughout history by looting troops and bandits from the wider area. In the 16th century, the Carthusians were expelled and the robber knight Matej Bašo settled in the monastery. Therefore, the church authorities decided to demolish the building and definitively remove the monks from the area. Today, the ruins of the monastery are preserved. In their vicinity there is the possibility of catering and accommodation.

The ruins of the monastery are open to the public.
