Since 2007, the most important Carpathian forest, Stužica, in which Kremenec is located, has also been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Ideal view of Poloniny
On the main ridge of Kremenca, the second highest peak Polonín - Kamenná lúka, from which there is a beautiful view of Veľká Rawka, is attracting attention.
The nearby Čierťaž hill attracts attention by the fact that until the 19th century it was the meeting place of the Zemplín, Užská and Galicia counties. Sedlo pod Čierťažou is the place where the oldest hunting lodge in Poloniny stood. Offers a view of the Velký Bukovec ridge.
The hill is also in the area, which is the darkest area in Slovakia in terms of light pollution. It is part of the first dark sky park in Slovakia (Poloniny Dark Sky Park).
Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine on top
At the highest point of Kremenca in Slovakia, which has an altitude of 1,207.7 m above sea level, there is a granite border column marking the tri-border of Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine . Near the top, visitors can refresh themselves with excellent drinking water from a forest well.
From the top you can continue along the ridge along the Slovak-Polish border to Riabu rock. The very peak of Kremenec (the highest point with an altitude of 1,221.0 m above sea level) is already located outside Slovakia, about 150 meters east of our border.
The easiest ascent to Kremenec is from the village of Nová Sedlica following the red tourist sign.
