Greek Catholic wooden church of St. Michael

The wooden Greek Catholic church in Matysová was probably built in the second half of the 18th century. His patron is St. Archangel Michael.

It was repaired in 1938. Subsequently, after the construction of a new brick church dedicated to St. Peter and Paul, in 1973 the wooden church was transferred to the Starubovnian open-air museum.

The temple building is two-part, three-room with three towers and crosses. The construction is log, columnar at the tower. The entrance is through the portal in the western part to the vestibule and from there to the nave. The main tower is lined with shingles, as well as the vestibule and the nave. The main tower is equipped with an onion, lantern and a small roof. It is finished with a decorative double-armed cross. The turrets above the nave and the sanctuary are similar, with a double-armed cross mounted above the nave and a single-armed cross above the sanctuary. Originally, there were three bells in the main tower, but they were moved to the brick church in Matysová before the wooden church was transferred to the open-air museum.

The iconostasis (NKP) dates from about the 18th century. and is in a substantially damaged condition. It has a four-tier architecture on four floors. The first main series consists of icons: St. Bishop Nicholas, the Mother of God Hodigitrie, Christ the Teacher and the icon of St. Archangel Michael. The deacon's door is not fitted with leaves. The imperial doors are classic double-leaf and are equipped with six medallions (four evangelists and the medallions of the Annunciation). The second is a series of holidays, with Mandylion in the middle. The third, apostolic series consists of six icons with pairs of figures. In the middle is the icon of Christ the High Priest with the Mother of God and St. John the Baptist. The fourth row consists of six medallions of individual prophets. The iconostasis is terminated by a board icon of the Crucifixion.

The furniture includes an altar with the icons of the Removal from the Cross and a former altar with the icon of the Transfiguration of the Lord from the 18th century.
