Greek Catholic wooden church of St. Archangel Michael

The Greek Catholic wooden church in Topola was built around 1700 and was dedicated to St. Archangel Michael.

There are currently two temples in the village. A wooden temple and a new brick, consecrated St. Peter and Paul, built in 1994. It is no longer used regularly in the old church. At the beginning of the 19th century. Alexander Duchnovič, a priest and important national and cultural figure, was born in the family of the then Greek Catholic priest.

The construction of the church is three-part, three-room, one-tower. The massive roof forms an optically uniform object. The construction is log, built on a low stone foundation. The entrance is from the west side through the hall. The tower has a roof in the shape of a truncated pyramid, which is covered with shingles. The smaller body of the turret with a three-armed cross is mounted on it. There is a cone with a three-armed cross on the pyramidal roof. Above the sanctuary at the end of the roof is a three-armed cross. Three bells were originally hung in the tower. Later they were transferred to a separate bell tower at the temple. Eventually they ended up in a new brick temple.

Iconostasis (NKP) excels with its variety of colors. It has a four-tier architecture with icons spread over four floors. It dates from the middle of the 18th century. The deacon's door is not fitted with leaves. The imperial door is double-leafed with six medallions of the Evangelists and the Annunciation. In the first main row are the icons of St. Bishop Nicholas, the Mother of God Hodigitrie, Christ the Teacher and the icon of St. Archangel Michael. The second row of holidays has a Last Supper icon in the middle. The third row of apostles contains in the middle the icon of Christ the High Priest with the Mother of God and St. John the Baptist. The fourth row is the so-called a series of prophets. In the middle is Christ on a three-armed red cross, on the sides with the Mother of God and St. evangelist John.

The complex also includes a free-standing wooden bell tower built in the 20th century. It is currently empty. The bell tower is built on a stone foundation. Its construction is simple, columnar. The entire roof of the tower is covered with shingles. A simple single-armed cross is placed in the front part of the roof.
