The largest city in eastern Slovakia, Košice, is surrounded by the beautiful Slovak Ore Mountains with very attractive tourist locations and many natural beauties. One such locality is located between the villages of Kysak and Veľká Lodina. It is Jánošík's bastion - limestone rock, which is popular not only with tourists but also climbers.

The rock stands out significantly from the forested ridge of the Volovské vrchy. Thanks to this, it enables a beautiful and indescribable view of the Hornád valley, Humenec, the Košice-Bohumín railway line, the panorama of Kysacký hrad and the Slanské vrchy hills.

The surroundings of the Jánošík Bastion also provide several nice places to rest, relax, picnic in nature or rock climbing. From the top rocks of the Jánošík Bastion you can continue further along the ridge to the Stádlo elevation and further along a pleasant path to the rúbaň with nice views to the left of Vysoký vrch and Bielská skála.

The hike to Jánošík's bastion is not difficult. Marked hiking trails lead here from the villages of Kysak - railway station (approx. 3 km) and Veľká Lodina (approx. 5 km).
