The cross vault of the sanctuary has ribs of pear-shaped. The sanctuary connects to the main nave with a massive triumphal arch. The main nave is separated on both sides of the same width of the side nave by unequally wide Gothic arcades. The original Gothic pastophorium has been preserved in the sanctuary of the pentagonal conclusion. On the north side is a Gothic opening, leading to the sacristy today. Originally he led to the Romanesque chapel of St. Juraj, who served the parish needs during the construction of the church. The construction of the basilica was done as a city building, as the city, as a patron, supplied building materials from its own resources, but also with the support of monarchs and a rich bourgeoisie. The three-nave temple was built on the highest point of the old town. There was a cemetery around. The original main street facade of the basilica was single-tower (Gothic). The Gothic portal on the south side is original. The perimeter exterior masonry had supporting pillars, between them high Gothic windows.

The tearful image of the Virgin Mary of Trnava ...

The Baroque chapel on the northern part of the church was built by Imrich Eszterházy. The dominant part of this domed building is the gracious image of the Virgin Mary of Trnava - the patron saint of the city of Trnava. According to witnesses, bloody tears appeared on the gracious image, which not only warned the people of Trnava but protected them during the tragic events of 1663 and 1708. Thousands of believers gather in Trnava every year to honor the love image during the nine-day Trnava novena.
