Legend has it that Ilka Castle was once on the edge of a forest in the village of Jelka. The young tree was allegedly donated to the lord of the castle Ilka by King Belo IV., Because he saved his life from the Tartars. According to our ancestors, King Matej Hunyadi also allegedly rested in the shade of a tree after a long journey.
