The Lourdes cave in Bukovská Dolina was built by the inhabitants of Buková Ján Bottek, Štefan Škrabák, Jozef Ondruš and Štefan Velický according to the model from Hlboč Smolenica. They chose a rock above the tree with the Picture, which according to legend was a memory of saving the count from being attacked by a wild boar on the way to the Brezinka manor house. In 1961, they opened a hole for a cave in the rock and installed statues of the Virgin Mary and St. Bernadets, which they bought from Mrs. Rozbehov. The iron gate in the cave has been since 1962.

In 1985, the cave was repaired by Peter Čambál, during the repair, the statue of St. Bernadety. During the further renovation of the cave in 1998, the endangered ceiling was strengthened and stairs with railings were built. According to information from the chronicle of the village, most of the restoration work was carried out by Miloš Hačo, Peter Lipár, Jozef Ondruš and Pavol Serina contributed financially. The statue of the Virgin Mary was renovated in 1999 by Miloš Hačo.
In 1858, the Virgin Mary appeared to little Bernadette in a cave in the French city of Lourdes. In honor of the apparition of the Virgin Mary of Lourdes, imitations of the Lourdes Cave with the Virgin Mary and the kneeling Bernadette began to be built. The respect and piety thus manifested has spread in our country as well.
