At the end of the war, the citizens of the village were abducted by retreating German troops to the Mauthausen concentration camp. When they returned, a monument was erected at the top of Plavecký Mikuláš, which was unveiled on May 7, 1947. Its dominant feature is a statue of Jesus Christ, with a cross next to it. There is also a memorial plaque in the village to commemorate this event.
