Petr Štefan Polák, a native of Plavecký, was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1974. He worked at the parish in Borovce since 1981. He was a member of the pro-regime Pacem in Terris movement, but left Rome after a visit to Rome in 1986 and a personal meeting with the pope.
