The last shots ended the struggle for the liberation of the village, and the Dechticans, who hid in the mountains during the crossing of the front, carefully returned to their homes - if they had any.
On Easter 1945, Dechtice was liberated from the fascists, but the price for freedom was high - 64 Red Army soldiers were killed, 5 victims were Dechtice residents and 204 Germans were killed.
CA soldiers were buried in temporary mass graves. After the war, they were exhumed and transferred to Slavín.
Civilian victims were buried in local cemeteries.
The German soldiers, who remained lying where they fell, were later carried to one place by citizen volunteers and quickly buried in the trenches.
Material damage was also great, and several houses and barns were reduced to ashes.
