Calvary and Chapel of Christ the Tripod - Stupava

History
The old Calvary originally consisted of only three wooden crosses with figures of Christ and two thieves. During the great fire of Stupava in 1709, only the middle cross with Christ remained intact by the fire. To commemorate this miraculous event, the early Baroque brick Chapel of Christ the Trifle was built on the Calvary in the years 1709 - 1713. The brick enclosure of the Calvary with pillar chapel stops come from a later period.

The listed and valuable Calvary is located on Námestí Sv. Trinity behind the parish church of St. Stefan. The Calvary was declared a cultural monument in 1963. It is currently registered in the Central List of Monuments as a national cultural monument. The chapel on Calvary is usually accessible during the Easter service, on the day of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The owner and administrator of the Calvary is the Roman Catholic Church, Stupava Parish.
