History
In 1927, a monument commemorating the construction of the General Štefánik Tunnel and the names of the men who perished during its construction were unveiled by the Brest family. Since 1952, when the work of MR Štefánik began to be recognized during socialism, the tunnel was referred to as Pod Poľanou. It was not until October 27, 1990 that the original name was restored to him when the monument was rediscovered at the Brest station.
