Believers, but not only those, can be grateful for the cave to Countess Gabriela Szápáryová (1834-1912), who established it after she was inspired by her own profound experience during a pilgrimage to Lourdes in France at the end of the 19th century. And so, after clearing, restoring and arranging the abandoned quarry, this unique pilgrimage site was created. The central motif of the entire building – the Lourdes Marian statue, which was ceremoniously consecrated in September 1892 on the occasion of the annual commemoration of the foundation of the nearby Bratislava Calvary.
