Slovakia hides many treasures and one of them is Veľký Rozsutec, located in Mala Fatra. It is a magical place whose beauty you will surely fall in love with. Legend has it that Veľký Rozsutec is famous for the treasures that Juraj Jánošík hid here. It is said that these treasures can only be discovered by someone who is similar to Jánošík.
Veľký Rozsutec is surrounded by peaks such as Maly Rozsutec, Stoh or Osnica. The top of this beautiful mountain range is decorated with a metal cross. We used to be able to find a wooden hut under this hill in Medziholí. Unfortunately, it burned down in 1985 due to a technical fault.
You can spend such a trip at any time of the year, with the exception of March 1 to June 15 , when it is closed due to the protection of animals in the Rozsutec National Nature Reserve.
It is a relatively difficult hike, so it is not the most suitable for young children or pensioners. Of course, it shouldn't be a problem for physically fit pensioners or children who have already done all-day hikes. We do not recommend taking your four-legged pets with you, as the ascent includes holding on to the rope and climbing the rocks in certain parts, which could pose a significant danger.
