Ján Hollý (March 24, 1785, Borský Mikuláš – April 14, 1849, Dobrá Voda)
A poet and writer, he lived in our village for the last six years of his life. He came to the village after thirty years of working in Madunice, where he lost all his possessions and was injured in a fire in May 1843. During this period, he asked the church authorities for retirement, and in times of need, the priest from Dobra Voda Martin Lackovič (former classmate) took care of him.
He worked in Dobra Voda until his death and is buried in the local cemetery. On May 11, 1854, a monument with a text by Ľudovít Štúr and a bust by the Slovak sculptor Ladislav Dunajský was unveiled above his grave. The Memorial Room at the parish office, opened in 1985, is also dedicated to Ján Hollé.
