Bojná - Hradisko Valy was one of the few locations where permanent settlement did not continue after its demise, and the destroyed castle gradually fell into oblivion, even with all the wealth that was there at the time of its sudden demise. Based on this fact, many experts and scientists compare the local settlement at that time to locations similar to Mikulčice or Pompeii, thanks to the amazing sources of knowledge for today's archaeology. Before Bojná was included on the map of archaeological sites, the forts in this location were discovered by various treasure hunters who caused great damage by seizing the most interesting finds
Systematic archaeological research has been carried out here since 2007, and thanks to it, it was possible to secure not only thousands of finds, but also to connect a lot of facts and tell the story of the then power center with the seat of an unknown prince.
In the 9th century, the castle of Valy pri Bojná was an important production, trade and missionary center and the seat of the Slavic social elite. Most of the movable monuments acquired so far belong to the time of the Principality of Nitra from the first third of the 9th century. Valy Castle - together with important princely manors in nearby Nitrianská Blatnica and Ducovo on the other side of the mountain range - also existed in the time of Great Moravia. According to traces of a fire in the fortifications, numerous finds of weapons and a number of hidden treasures, this fortress disappeared at the beginning of the 10th century. Its more detailed fate is determined by archaeological excavations. Original findings from the site can be seen in the exhibits of the Archaeological Museum of Great Moravia in Bojna.
