The NPR protects surface karst phenomena – scarp, rock towers, dry valleys (e.g. Čertova dolina), but also fissure chasms and underground karst caves (e.g. Haviareň cave). Beech and maple forests are also preserved under protection, some trees are around 160 years old.
Primula auricula (Primula auricula), two-colored iris (Iris variegata) grows from the protected plants on the rocky ground, and rare birds such as the peregrine falcon (Falco cherrug), peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), and bald eagle (Aquila pomarina) nest here. Butterflies, beetles and other types of fauna are also abundantly represented...
