Summer oak.
Our most powerful and majestic home tree. It is partly non-decaying, completely frost-resistant and undemanding to cultivation and care. It has oblong, wavy, lobed dark green leaves and a wrinkled bark. It is suitable for larger parks and gardens and is very suitable for planting alleys and tree lines. Part of its old leaves remain on the tree even in winter. Because they are small, they do not clog pipes or sewers. Summer oak lives up to 700, rarely over 1000 years. It can grow in very acidic and alkaline soils (pH range 4.5 - 8). It prefers well-drained soils, which, however, can also be moist, loamy, loamy, sandy or calcareous. It has very valuable wood, which has been a valuable commodity for many centuries. In the past, it was used for shipbuilding, today especially in construction, furniture, for the production of the highest quality barrels and its thinner branches than the most valuable firewood. It is estimated that about 500,000 old oaks have fallen victim to the English merchant and military fleet in recent centuries. It is also very suitable for planting in close proximity to roads with a lower maximum permitted speed. In this case, we establish the crown at a minimum height of 4 m to allow the passage of trucks. In the forest, his acorns are food for many forest dwellers. Summer oak is home to and probably the largest number of food species of herbivorous organisms in Europe (over 400 species). An old English proverb says that the best ham grows in oaks, because in the past they let piglets into the woods in the fall to graze on their fallen acorns. It usually grows to a height of 23-30m, rarely to almost 50m and to a width of about 20-30m
