The Passion or the wrong Passion is a small religious building in the shape of a stone or brick pillar or a square brick and plastered pillar with a heel, stem, head, which carries (often on top a roof and cross) a box in which there is a passion painting, a statue (sculpture) of a saint or relief. It is a kind of roadway chapel. From the 18th and 19th centuries in Slovakia, they are the richest represented in the vicinity of Trnava, in Orava, in the vicinity of Stropkov and in the middle Považie.
The Passion of the Christ is a work of folk architecture and was built (in Slovakia in the 15th - 19th century) in the middle of the village, at crossroads, on the way roads, near churches or other important and legendary places to commemorate happy or tragic events in village life, communities or individuals (eg recovery from a serious illness, plague, reverence for the dead, reconciliation of property disputes, etc.).
Using statues, images or crosses, they depicted scenes from the life of Christ. They are widespread throughout Christian Europe.
