Statue of St. Barbory - Majcichov

Statue of St. Barbora, as the patron saint of artillery, was exhibited in 1750 in honor of the return from the war by the Andrássy family.

What we know about the life of St. Barbara is based only on legends. No historical documents have been preserved about her life.

According to the legend of St. Barbora converted to Christianity, which made her pagan father very angry. He therefore had to flee. During her escape, a rock allegedly opened in front of her so that she could hide in it. However, due to the betrayal of a local shepherd, she was found and caught. When she refused to renounce Christianity, she was executed by beheading. Before her death, she prayed to God that anyone who remembered her suffering would be spared from similar hardships.
