The lowest lake in the Batizovská valley in the High Tatras is Čierne pleso. This small, maximum 2 m deep lake is located in the part of Motyková dolina at an altitude of 1240 m and, unlike its alpine cousins, it is surrounded by not rising to the heavens, lying forests around Vyšné Hágy. Čierne pleso has no inflow or outflow, water has accumulated in it due to precipitation and melting snow.
