The oldest records of the original Gothic church date from the 14th century. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the church underwent several modifications and repairs. We can observe elements of the Renaissance and Baroque style on it. The church is decorated with beautiful frescoes - a monumental depicting the scene of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and smaller with the theme of the Last Supper, the Passion of the Lord and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In addition to worship services, it also served as a place of last rest - there were crypts, three of which were buried Balašovci, the fourth belonged to the Sapari family and the fifth was common to other citizens.
