The ascent to Rysy is perhaps the most popular tourist ascent in the High Tatras. The relatively challenging ascent is due to the beautiful view from the top. The features are located on the Slovak-Polish border, they have three peaks.

Route:

Štrbské Pleso (1355m, hotel Patria) - Popradské pleso [1:05] - rázc. nad Žabím potokom [0:35] - saddle Weight (2340m) [2:00] - Rysy (2499m) [0:45], back the same way [3:35]. Total time [8:00].

From the Patria Hotel near Štrbské pleso we follow the red sign along the Tatranská Magistrála, cross the bridge over the Mlynica stream and start to climb slightly through the forest to Trigan, from there we continue through the thin forest to the crossroads of the "winter road", continue along the red this section after Popradské pleso closed). From the crossroads, the path leads for a short time through the forest, then through open terrain along the Patria hillside to the bridge over the Hincov stream, from where we soon reach the crossroads above Popradský pleso, from there a short distance along the asphalt road to Chata pri Popradskom plese. We continue up the forest road, later through rhododendrons to the Mengusovská valley until we reach a crossroads above the Žabí stream. From the crossroads we turn right and immediately climb steeply along a stony path in the rhododendron next to a huge boulder called Hincova skala. We cross the Žabí potok bridge and begin to ascend through many serpentines up the slope to a striking, characteristic rock called Wachterka and enter the Žabí plies basin.

The sidewalk leads above Veľký Žabí pleso. We start to climb to the right with short but steep curves in the rubble under the rock wall. We cross the wall with the help of chains through the traverse to the right (in summer snow or iceberg a very dangerous section!) To a flatter part up to the waterfall. From there, in the valley below Váhou, we continue along steep serpentines along a rocky path to the cottage below Rysy. From the cottage there is a serpentine in the left part of the valley and in the end with steep serpentines to the Váž saddle. From the saddle to the left to the southwestern slope of Rysov and slightly bends up the rib. On the other hand, a few meters down, then we go down the southeastern and main peak and finally we climb the steep serpentines to the northwestern - lookout peak Rysov.
