Church Strait - Považská Bystrica

1 rating
The strength of the Manín brook is also proved by the 500-meter-long, rock-walled Kostolecká gorge. It was created by cutting a stream into the Drieňovka parallel bar, while its right, densely overgrown part is decorated with crumbling brale formations. On the left side of the gorge, the limestone sediments wrinkled due to tectonic processes, so we now see them in the walls inclined, even inverted. Under the rock overhang, a huge rubble cone falls to the road.

Climbers who put their skills here, call this largest rock overhang in Slovakia the Church Dome or the Roof of Slovakia. In contrast to the Manins, Drieňovka visibly has a smaller parallel structure, but thanks to the unique rock relief, the Church Strait is an amazing natural phenomenon.
