The most valuable monuments from the floodplain are transferred to the Museum of the Liptov Village in Pribylina.
The main purpose of the dam is flood protection, but it also serves for the production of electricity, as there are 4 turbines with an output of 198 MW under the dam.
There are a wide range of fishing opportunities on Liptovská Mare, and you can also take a sightseeing boat trip from the port of Liptovský Trnovec. In summer, the dam offers a wide range of water sports such as swimming, boating, surfing, jet skiing and more.
The Ratkovie peninsula with adjacent waters is a protected area. Above the dam wall of Liptovská Mary, 2 km south of the village of Bobrovník, at the eastern foot of the Úložisko hill (741.7 m above sea level) is the Havránok archeological site - a Celtic fortification of the Kotín settlement with a Druid shrine from the 1st century BC. There is also a museum in nature open to the public.
