Peter Michal Bohúň (1822 Veličná - 1879 Bielsko-Biala)
The life of the founder of the Slovak realistic portrait was full of difficult trials and blows, but also of tireless creative activity. He painted portraits - especially of nationalists and burghers, altar paintings and landscapes, created cycles of costumed figures, devoted himself to photography. You can see part of his portrait work, which is characterized by peace and classic composition, in the gallery of the same name. Originally, the gallery building was an evangelical school, where PM Bohúň taught painting for 11 years.
