The sandstone statue of the nobleman Pongrác in life size is located near the Church of St. Mikuláš on Náměstí osloboditeľov. It is the work of academic sculptor Ladislav Pollák.
The history of Liptovský Mikuláš was closely connected with the aristocratic Pongrácov family. The statue depicts the nobleman Pongrác, at the request of which King Louis the Great allowed the market to be held every Tuesday around 1350, and since then St. Nicholas has developed as a city.
