The profile of the Slovak Technical Museum has been formed since the issuance of the temporary statute (then the Technical Museum) in 1947. The first expositions of the museum were opened to the public a year later. In 1983, the museum was renamed the Slovak Technical Museum. The establishment of a specialized technical museum with a nationwide scope was fully historically justified. In its development, Slovakia was one of the most industrial areas in Hungary.
