The intention to build the Stations of the Cross in Terchová was long-term, as the village is an important place of pilgrimage. In addition, the Cyril and Methodius Days have been held in the village for decades. The need to build the Stations of the Cross was therefore clear. The author of this Calvary is the academic sculptor and native of Terchová Milan Opalka. He was the first post-revolutionary mayor of Terchová, he was also responsible for the establishment of the Cyril and Methodius Days in 1990, the Terchová newspaper and other important events. He thus participated in the artistic and spiritual development of Terchová.
