The chapel is a national cultural monument and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish in Smolník and is part of the Spiritual Path, which leads from Smolník to Štóské sedlo.
Its construction or reconstruction of the original wooden chapel from 1735 dates back to 1757, so to this day it has been 286 years!
During the First World War it was considerably damaged, (STROLE'S contribution to the fight on Lastovič Hill)
In 1936, it was restored and a sacristy and a wooden shelter were added to it.
The nave of the building itself is separated from the wooden shelter by an artfully wrought iron net.
