Marian Column - Spišskonovoveský

The Spišská Nová Ves pillar was built on the basis of a donation from the then Polish mayor Teodor Konstantin Lubomirsky. It is one of the oldest of the Marian pillars, which this count had built in another 13 Spiš towns, which he administered during the so-called Polish advance.

According to the available literature, the immaculate was made by the Levoča sculptor Friedrich Horn.

The Marian Column has undergone several renovations in the past. The last renovation of this national cultural monument took place more than 110 years recently, in the years 2009 - 2010. The restored original statue of Immaculate was deposited, residents and visitors can see it up close in the nearby City Hall.

It is interesting that a metal box with period artifacts was placed in a part of the reconstructed Marian column when it was re-installed in 2010. They will explain to future generations - descendants of Spišskonovovešťans the whole course of the reconstruction of the monument, but also the time in which this happened.
