Originally a Romanesque church was built for the Tatar looting v1. third of the 13th century. The church is situated to the right of the state road on the edge of the municipal cemetery. It underwent a major Baroque reconstruction at the end of the 17th century, when it was extended to the west and supplemented with a new tower. At the end of the 18th century, the building received a classicist design. From the original Romanesque church, the entire enclosure of the apse of the church with a masonry Romanesque window, a triumphal arch inside the building, the perimeter wall and a saddle stone portal on the south side have been preserved. A sacristy was added to it at the end of the 19th century. The Romanesque church was probably emporium. This means that on the west side in the 13th century, they built a raised balcony space for the then founder of the church and the landowner, from where he watched and attended services. The other inhabitants and subjects owned a place below it on the ground floor. The manor house could be directly connected with the land of the landowner, so it is possible that on the west side of the church there was a landowner's residence, perhaps a manor of landowners from Trhoviště, who so often appear in documents related to the castle and settlement Hlohovec 14th century.
During the extension of the nave in the 17th century, the western porch of the Romanesque church was abolished. The facade dates from the end of the 18th century, is divided by lysines, on the facade above the entrance and under the tower there is a niche with a late Baroque stone sculpture of Pieta. The main altar of St. Juraja is neo-baroque and dates from the end of the 18th century. The altar is characterized by a one-storey architecture with pairs of pillars, pilasters with an extension and the altarpiece of St. Juraja. On its sides are sculptures of St. Stephen the King and Ladislav. The pulpit is classicist from the 18th century, on its square sill there is a wood carving. The stone baptistery also dates from the period of the last great reconstruction in the 18th century and has a round heap decorated with foliage. The choir organ is Baroque-Classicist from the 2nd half. 18th century. In the tower of the church there is a bell from 1761 cast by the bell-keeper Matej Orfandl in Trnava.
The original burial ground of the medieval inhabitants of Trhoviště was located around the Romanesque church in the 13th century.
