The mound is 96 m long and 70 m wide. Its lower terrace, which measures 93 mx 62 m and has two stairs, is terminated in the corners by fire chambers. On the upper terrace, which has dimensions of 45 mx 32 m and also two stairs, there are four 12.5 m high obelisks. The obelisks symbolize the four victims of the plane crash and at the same time the four countries in which Štefánik worked. The mound has been a National Cultural Monument since 1968.

The mound is 96 m long and 70 m wide. Its lower terrace, which measures 93 mx 62 m and has two stairs, is terminated in the corners by fire chambers. The obelisks symbolize the four victims of the plane crash and at the same time the four countries in which Štefánik worked. The mound has been a National Cultural Monument since 1968.

At the same time, the mound is a symbol of the independence and freedom of our nation and a memorial to an important historical event in which Slovaks became one of the free nations of the world.

The foundation stone of the memorial was laid on July 17, 1927. The mound was ceremoniously unveiled on September 23, 1928 during a national celebration.
