History
The Great Moravian court in Kostolec was a fortified seat of a feudal lord from the 9th century. The importance of the locality was multiplied by the discovery of the foundations of the rotunda and the Great Moravian cemetery. Inside the area are the foundations of a partially reconstructed courtyard and a pre-Romanesque church of the rotunda type. The tradition of national Cyril and Methodius pilgrimages, which take place here at the beginning of July, is cultivated at Kostolec near Ducov.

Currently, there are the remains of a Great Moravian manor dating back to the 9th century, with the preserved foundations of a rotunda church and a period reconstruction of a part of a wheel fence.

The remains of the church were rededicated on the feast of St. Cyril and Methodius in 1990, and since then St. mass in honor of the arrival of the Byzantine mission to Great Moravia.

This territory is declared a national cultural monument. The area is freely accessible to the general public. Information panels will also inform you about historical moments.
