Roman Catholic Church of St. Stephen the King in Trstice

The most significant historical building in Trstice, the Roman Catholic Church was built in 1903-1904. The new church was built on the site of the old church from 1717. The church was built by the inhabitants, and financial support was also provided by the Esterházy family.

Due to the marshy soil of the church, they built very solid foundations. 4 m long, 40x40 cm thick beech wood prisms were placed crosswise to a depth of three meters. They put concrete with reinforced concrete columns for that. The completion of the building was slowed down by a flood in 1903. The external construction was completed in November 1904. The ceilings are made of bricks and reinforced concrete. The floor is lined with burnt tiles. The tower is 47.68 m high, the ring was placed on it in 1904 and is 2 m high. The tower is covered with glazed Modran tiles and the roof with Devín tiles. The church is dedicated to St. Stephen. The main altarpiece depicts St. Štefan, as he hands over the crown to the Virgin Mary. On the left is the altar of St. Ladislav and on the right St. Imrich.
