Discover the built Little Carpathian lookout towers, which will surprise you with large and unrepeatable views of the surrounding area.

Our first stop and starting point is the lookout tower above Svätý Jur . From the center of St. George, it can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.

The lookout tower is about 4 m high and has an impressive view of Svätý Jur and Bratislava. There is also a small house under the lookout tower where you can hide in case of bad weather.

About 20 km (approx. 30 minutes by car) in the direction of Modra, on the Veľká Homola hill, which rises above the town of Modra, there is an Alexander Filípek lookout tower . It is built in a modern style and was named after the former forest manager Alexander Filípek, who not only took care of the forests, but also contributed to the development of tourism.
The fastest and most direct ascent to this hill leads along the red tourist sign from the parking lot at Zochova chata nad Modrou (approx. 2.5 km), which is easily accessible by car, bus or bicycle. The lookout tower is also accessible from Modra following the blue sign and from Pezinok following the red tourist sign (or later the green tourist sign).

The lookout tower is really high, the upper viewing platform rises to a height of 20.4 meters. 120 steps lead to the top. If you conquer them, you will be offered a vast and beautiful view not only of the surrounding Little Carpathians, but also of the Danube Plain, White Carpathians, Považský Inovec, Tribeč, Strážovské vrchy, Vtáčnik, Veľká Fatra, Pohronský Inovec, Eastern Alps in Austria, Pavlovské vrchy and Mushrooms in Moravia.

Another stop is the lookout tower on Kukla , which is about 10 km by car from the lookout tower on Veľká Homola. It is located above the village Dubová and is located in dense beech-oak forests.

We can get to the lookout tower on Kukla on marked hiking trails from Dubová, from Modra or from the village of Píla.

The lookout tower extends to a height of 12 meters. You can get to the top with wooden ladders, so especially in the case of children, you need to be more careful. The lookout tower offers beautiful panoramic views of the Red Stone Castle and part of the Little Carpathians from the top floor.

To the next lookout tower, we have to move to the village of Cerová, about 35 km from our last stop. The lookout tower was built in 2009 above the upper edge of Rozbehov and was named Rozbehy accordingly .

It lies on top of the village, next to the cemetery. It is easily accessible on foot, so we only need to manage a short piece of the hill.

It is 7 meters high and 35 spiral staircases lead to the viewing platform. It offers a beautiful view of the northern part of the Záhorská lowland and the Záruba hill . Also in its immediate vicinity is the first wind power plant in Slovakia.

In the end, we kept a truly unique lookout tower, which is actually a tower of Katarínek's ruins . We get to the ruins of the Katarínka monastery on the way back through Trstín, while we turn to the village of Naháč (approx. 24 km). The fastest way to get to Katarínka is from the village of Naháč following the blue sign (40 minutes). It is also possible to get by car along the stony road to the parking lot, from where it is about 20 minutes walk to Katarínka. The turn to the parking lot is between Dechtice and Naháč.

The observation tower was made available to the public in 2017. Today, the Katarínka Tower has a respectable 30 meters (as a 10-storey building) and 5 floors without any existing finish. The recessed roof was completed in 2012. It is a new building (6th floor), which is emphasized by its construction (machine-cut beams of a different color, tiles) and a metal spiral staircase from the 5th floor. Floors on 1.-5. floors are made of hand-planted oak boards. The crown of the wall serves as a railing.

From the roof you can see the surrounding Little Carpathian landscape, including the highest peak of the Little Carpathians, which is Záruba . To the south you can see the mentioned village Naháč and in nice weather you can see Trnava.
