The village of Hoste is interesting in that there are up to 5 bridges in it and the village can only be reached via a bridge. Therefore, sometimes this village was called an island. From the establishment of the village until 1946, it was called Gest, which in translation means guest, perhaps that is why the village bears the name Guest. It originally belonged to the Bratislava castle, it was a royal property. It is located south of Trnava and lies on the border of the Trnava board and the Danube plain. Since it is located on the floodplain of Dudváh between its two arms, it forms the so-called river island. We will introduce you to two interesting places from this village.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is the tallest building in the village and was built in 1760. In 1877 it was enlarged and supplemented with a new tower. Until then, the village never had its own parish. There are regular services in the church and the doors are open not only to the citizens of the village.

mill in the village of Hoste dates from the 17th century and is a national cultural monument. It has a unique horizontal turbine, which is the only one in Central Europe. It is situated on the outskirts of the village and forms a whole with the adjacent outbuildings. The building is located by a watercourse - a supply channel that has been inoperative for a long time. Fortunately, the channel was repaired and cleaned to ensure its functionality.

From the Municipality of Hoste, in a short 3 minutes you can get to another picturesque village, Abraham . Even though we have already brought you basic information about this village, new information will still be found. Archaeological excavations prove that the village has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The oldest cultures alternated here, down to the Slavs. Now we will introduce you to places that will make your day more pleasant with their history and atmosphere.

Church of St. Abraham's Patriarch is a Roman Catholic church built in 1782. It houses a Baroque establishment with elements of Classicism. There is evidence that in September 1296 the Tatars destroyed the monastery in Abraham and murdered the monks. Therefore, in 1782, the present-day church could be built on this site.

The Abraham Museum has been located in the village for 15 years. This museum brings its visitors the atmosphere of times past. You can look into exhibits from folk costumes and home furniture to education, the military, fire brigade and culture.

When you set out on the Abrahamic road, after 5 km you reach the village of Pusté Úľany , which, despite its desolation evoking name, is rich in events and exceptional personalities. According to one legend, local beekeepers saved Vienna from the Turks' invasion, and local streams and railways often formed the boundary line between the welding units. It is a territory which, due to its location and friendliness, is created for strategic events and decisions, and which has attracted people since time immemorial. They also know the village in the world. Thanks to corn puppet puppets. The village boasts that it has up to 5 ponds, so it is attractive for surrounding fishermen. It is also interesting that this village is statistically the driest place in Slovakia. There are also many monuments worth seeing in this village.

Church of St. Ladislav   is a Roman Catholic church located near the village center. It was built in 1714 and acquired its present form after reconstruction in 1742. Today, the parish is an independent church unit administered by the local Roman Catholic parish.

Chapel of St. Jozefa is located at the lower end of the village. It is a small brick building, finished with a roof and a simple metal cross. At the bottom, the chapel has two stone pillars. In the chapel is inserted a statue of St. Joseph. This chapel will please the eye but also caress the soul.

Children and animal lovers can look forward to it. In this village they will also find a farm: Gazdovský dvor náš sen , which is located on Nove cesta street in Pustých Úľany. It is a family farm full of smaller and larger animals that live in the forest or are kept in the yards. The best thing about this farm is that you can feed the animals by hand. Horseback riding with an instructor is also available for children. If the weather is nice, you can book a fireplace and make your evening more enjoyable by toasting bacon in this pleasant environment. The natural surroundings of the village also offer a wide range of sports and recreational uses. There are tennis courts with artificial grass, where you can play tennis. After an active day, your stomach will be taken care of by the Slovan restaurant , which will delight you with its traditional and honest cuisine.

After Pusté Úľany we will look at the village of Veľké Úľany   according to citizens, it bears this name because they have many hives. And it's true, they have up to 280 families of beehives. In the village there is a recreational zone along the dead branch of the river Čierna voda. The village also boasts a zoo that will delight visitors and families with children, where animals from the forest live, as well as those who once bred in the village.

Statue of St. Vendelína   is located almost in the center of the village. Sv. Vendelín is considered the patron saint of shepherds, farmers and peasants. Therefore, he is mostly depicted as a young shepherd with his animals.

Church of St. The building of Michal Archangel began as early as 1594 in the Renaissance style, but it was not completed for a long time due to the turbulent period. According to records, it did not appear until 1670. Regular services are held here for citizens and visitors alike.

Before the First World War, the village of Veľký Grob was a well-known embroidery center. The master of painting and embroidery - Katarína Brinzová - also lived here. The house in which she lived and created is declared a cultural monument. Her paintings can be found in museums all over Slovakia, but also in the building of the lunch office in Veľký Grob.


Evangelic church   is a modern church built in 1934 according to the project of the architect Michal Milan Harminc, who left an older Baroque - Classicist tower from the end of the 18th century asymmetrically placed in a new building. The interior of the church dates from the 20th century. The condition of the church is very good and serves its purpose.

Roman Catholic Church of St. Anny was originally an older chapel, which was rebuilt into a classicist church in 1771. It was restored at the beginning of the 19th century. The layout consists of a single-nave space and a built-in tower. The tower is covered with a bell helmet.
