At the time of the coronavirus epidemic, several voluntary projects are beginning to emerge to make it easier for people to fight the disease or improve prevention. Often these projects are based on the IT environment and also concern mobile technologies. This is also the case of the mobile application STAY HEALTHY , which was created by programmers under the guidance of doctor MUDr. Andrej Thurz. The main task of the application is to warn the user that a person infected with a coronavirus is near him.
How does it work?
Thanks to the data obtained on the infected, it can display their location in an anonymous way. Thus, others registered in the application see with an accuracy of 50 meters that they have near a person with a positive test for coronavirus. Healthy people nearby are not shown to the user of the application on the map. Also, a healthy user does not show up to other users in the area. However, if there are infected people in the vicinity of the user, the application will display the date, time and estimated location with an accuracy of 50 meters. Positive test results are entered into the system by a specialized worker. The application can detect encounters with the infected even retrospectively. The mobile application, which is now available for Android (and soon also for iOS), captures only the user's location via GPS. Entering personal data, including name and phone number, is not mandatory, so it is not possible to track a specific person through the application.
As the authors of the application state, with the help of Stay Healthy, people can choose directly from the application the opportunity to test themselves on COVID-19 and at the same time get information about positivity back to it, without the need to call or walk anywhere. If the anonymous identifier is marked as positive by the reference center / laboratory / doctor, the application will automatically notify others who have been with it recently, of course anonymously.
