History guide

The lizard on Stará hora, located at the foot of Považský Inovec, is a long-term guide to history. And not only the extinct village of St. Peter, whose inhabitants have been cultivating this foothills with farms, orchards, pastures, but also vineyards and beekeeping for centuries. For centuries, this place has also witnessed the history of the country, which is connected with the Váh River, the Trnava Hills and the Little Carpathians. The dominant feature of the country, over which Viecha Jašter stretches, is the town of Hlohovec, located at the foot of the Šintava Uplands. This old wine town with a dominant castle is also strongly connected with land, forests and water.

After the demise of the village of Svätý Peter, Viecha Jašter, which has been a place where visitors can relax and enjoy excellent food for decades, takes care of the wonderful entrance to the town of Hlohovec. Since 1972, when Viecha Jašter has been operating in this form, the pride of the vineyards around Jašter has brought many important guests here. Viecha witnessed the signing of important documents during the construction of the Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plant, but it was also visited by important personalities of the time and the present. The vineyards, which were the pride of the CMEA, were also visited by the capitalist world. The varieties Veltlínske zelené, Bratislavská leánka, Iršai Oliver, Modrý Portugal, but also the cherry orchard were under drip irrigation, which was still a rarity in the 1980s.

The locality of Stará hora in Považský Inovec with the adjacent Pánská niva lowland, which connects two mountains, is known not only to archaeologists for its findings proving the cultivation of vineyards (dated to 500 BC), but also to lovers of romantic views of the Váh river valley. Due to its location near the border of the old roads leading to Piešťany and Topoľčiany, this location seemed destined to provide relaxation for pilgrims and pleasure for the locals.

Genius loci - the spirit of the place - gradually attracted important inhabitants of the then village of St. Peter to his lap. Significant springs of crystal clear water Považský Inovec led to the construction of a nearby brewery and workshops for the production and maintenance of beer kegs. All this contributed to a more intensive use of the roads under the Old Mountain. The first to sign the building creation of Jašter in 1880 was the owner of the brewery, Jozef Müller. Not only the beer he produced, but also the wine from the adjacent vineyards provided pleasure to his friends and travelers. And then came World War I. The values of wine, beer and lives were lost. The majestic trees that formed continuous alleys along the roads between the cities were cut down so that the nascent air force could lose its orientation. The region and the roads below Jašter lost their original face. The owners have changed. People died on the battlefields of World War I and World War II. In the end, the trees on the way were replaced by burnt mainly destroyed works, which socialization followed with great pomp. In 1969, the Hlohovec cooperative bought Július Fučík from the then owner, Mr. Kolen, a "family house", originally a habitable "hajlok" (cottage with a wine cellar - editor's note), to rebuild it into a "village". But - the spirit of the locality with its hospitable power did not allow any other option than to elevate this place to a center providing accommodation and always above-standard hospitality services. The importance of the location and the quality of services were carefully guarded by the then chairman of JRD, Florián Kubínsky.

The road has changed in the meantime - it was covered with several layers of asphalt, after which the "big lords" also came to Jašter, as mentioned by the deserving cooperative Katarína Šumichrastová.

"Jesus, Mr. Tutura! They didn't even float, they pulled out a white cloth and forged it into it ... So they were gentlemen ... "

It is as if these gentlemen signed important agreements in this already modified building - on the Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plant and on the development of the region, the cities of Trnava, Piešťany and Hlohovec. Gradually, they stopped for a good meal with wine - the ministers and the then stars of popular music. At the initiative of Minister Janovic, the cooperative underwent a general reconstruction of the Jašter buildings - it received a gift from the ministry in the form of a work of art by a native of Hlohovec and the important artist Dezider Castiliogny (November 26, 1924 - March 1, 2005). The work is not feasible today due to the incredible work, a work in which every single small piece of glass had to be melted in a glass furnace in the Železný Brod glassworks in order to fit into the whole with its shape and color. A beautiful glass fresco called Partizánske flames covers the entire front wall of the old cellar. The Minister of Janovice was also personally present during the handover of the work. The author Dezider Castiliogne presented the work in these words:

"The hawthorn plant, which gave its name to the nearby Hlohovec, is said to help the heart and relieve depression. I created this fresco with the same features and I allowed myself to add the beautiful morning and sunrise over the Old Mountain ... "

Memories and thanks to Pavel Tutura, owner of Viecha Jašter

On September 1, 22 years have passed since my wife and I started operating Viecha Jašter. We have an incredible 800 weddings, thousands of family celebrations and a number of amazing catering events in the region and in Slovakia. From the beginning, we participated with our booth, as I liked to call it here, Slovakiatour in Žilina (the current successor of this event is Incheba Bratislava). Unfortunately, in our region, tourism has fallen asleep on its laurels. Our motto is the team, which is almost unchanged and creates a stable game in the works, where we try to survive the good, but also the bad together. But thanks to you, visitors who have supported us for 22 years, because only thanks to you and for you we overcome everyday obstacles and we can work even at a time when sweet buns and heated semi-finished products destroy our traditional home cooking.
