If you are a lover of quality wine, history, art and a pleasant environment, you should definitely include a visit to Pezinok in your weekend and holiday plans. The town is part of the Little Carpathian Wine Route, which connects the villages and towns of the region with viticultural and winemaking traditions from Bratislava to Smolenice. It is also interesting for tourists thanks to its historical monuments, burgher and vineyard houses, the rest of the walls.

Rich thanks to wine

Pezinok is mentioned in the royal documents of donation in 1208, after the first wave of German colonization it became a mining and viticultural town, in 1647 a royal town. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it flourished the most - thanks to wine, it was one of the richest cities in Hungary. The most famous monuments in Pezinok are the Renaissance town hall, the castle from the 13th century and four churches. The English park with a pond, founded by Count František Pálfi, is an ideal place to relax not only for those looking for quiet places, but also for walks for whole families.

Something for gourmets

When discovering Pezinok, there is also a wine-growing exposition in the Malokarpatske Museum, an exposition of objects obtained by archaeological research in Pezinok and the first and only Gallery of Insit Art in Slovakia, which art lovers will find in the reconstructed Schaubmar mill with preserved mill.

Be sure not to miss one of the tastings of excellent wines from local winemakers and typical gastronomic specialties of the Lesser Carpathians region - for example in restaurants involved in the project Culinary Trails.

Traditional wine events

  • Wine markets (April)
  • Wine and lavender (July)

  • Open Cellars Day (November)
  • Saint Martin's Blessing of Young Wine (November 11)

Lots of nature trails

If you are closer to a more active rest, you can walk through various nature trails and also explore local attractions through them. Popular are, for example, the mining nature trail, the forest nature trail, the wine-growing nature trail or the historical circuit of the city. Following the blue tourist sign, you can cross the approximately 12-kilometer route Pezinok - Baba.

In the city and its surroundings there are other possibilities for summer and winter tourism. In addition to marked trails, it is horseback riding and tennis in the Rozálka health area, indoor swimming pool, squash hall, cycling routes, in winter downhill and cross-country skiing terrains with artificial snow and five lifts on the Baba hill. If you contact the Municipal Information Center in Pezinok, they will advise you on choosing your activities in advance, but also on the spot.

WE ARE INTERESTED: RUNNING BREEDING

If you are one of those who love running, or at least like to encourage runners with a glass of good wine in hand, don't miss the 7th year of Lyreco Beh Pezinkom this year. It is a very well-prepared sports and social event, where runners will enjoy the joy of running on a 9 km track with a start from the castle park through the vineyards around Pezinok and return to the castle park through the city, which runners sincerely. The organizer is the Running Club Beh Pezinkom, oz, the route is undemanding, with an elevation gain of only 68 m. It can also be done by those who want to take part in the race for the first time. In addition to bloated action heroes, you will also meet ordinary mortals here - men in their 60s, men in their years who move because they have a sedentary job, or young babies who have decided to fight for a slim line. There is a friendly atmosphere, spectators will appreciate the performance of the last in the finish line. The children will have traditional children's runs, there will also be a raffle and accompanying events. Capacity is 600 runners. We from the editorial office also participated in Behu Pezink for two years and we highly recommend it! It's a pleasant weekend spent with family and friends - less than an hour of sweating on the track and then a walk through the picturesque town and a well-deserved cake or glass of wine in the company of cordial Pezinoks.
