The village with an area of 1,348 ha is located on the southern tip of the Strážovské vrchy along the Brestovický brook.
At the end of the 16th century, there were 47 houses in the village, which ranked the village among the larger settlements of the Oslian district. Today the village has about 200 houses and is in the attention of geologists. The natural unique Sea Eye, a deposit of seabed deposits 45 million years ago, is being studied by scientists around the world. Ordinary people are also attracted here by winter and summer hiking, for example to the highest hill around the village - Veľký vrch.
