We do not know the exact date of the Križovian rotunda. The oldest historical report on the village ("possessio Kerestur") dates from 1296. It belonged to the Šintava estate, later to the Čeklís (Bernolákovo) estate. At the time of its establishment, was it the property of the monastery (the Benedictines in Diakovce?) Has not yet been confirmed. The building type of the headquarters - a rotunda with a cylindrical nave and a horseshoe-shaped apse - was known in the wider region of western Slovakia for a long time. It followed the Great Moravian patterns, the most valuable of which have been preserved in Ducovy near Piešťany, at the Trenčín castle (only the foundation masonry has been preserved), in Nitrianská Blatnice or the later built Skalica. This type of church presents several examples from Bohemia, Moravia, Hungary and Austria. In these countries, rotundas became a symbol of Christianization in the 10th - 12th centuries. Initially, they were built on princely strongholds, and later as parish churches. In other European countries as well, the central form of construction was typical of baptistery, tombs, martyrs, mausoleums and private mansions. The simple dispositional and spatial composition of the cylindrical formations, although on a small scale, but sufficiently monumental, gave these buildings a classic, timeless value.
