Žofia moved to Nová Sedlice in 1928 and dedicated her life to beekeeping. It became famous for its quality mountain honey - its products were also taken from gingerbread factories in Pardubice or chocolate factories in Cologne, Germany. In this beautiful corner of Slovakia, she lovingly cared for up to 80 hives.
The honey baby statue was created by sculptor Marek Žitňan and was installed in 2002. There is also a log apiary on the meadow, so the wooden Žofia still oversees flowering meadows and hard-working bees. Even today you can enjoy the beautiful nature, views, peace and, of course, meadows full of flowers and herbs.
The location of Medová baby is accessible via a marked tourist trail from Nová Sedlice.
