Originally a Renaissance manor house, it belonged to the Pálffy family, which rebuilt it several times during its almost 300-year ownership. A chapel from 1750 and a moat with an entrance bridge have been preserved from Pálffy's times. The new owner in 1867 was the Austro-Hungarian diplomat, Count Alajos Károlyi, who had the manor rebuilt according to the designs of architect Miklós Ybl. After burning in 1947, the manor house was rebuilt in the years 1956 - 1962 and increased by one floor for the needs of a retirement home.
