The first written monuments about the village Horná Potôň date back to 1246 (Koncsol László: Patonyföld - Potônska zem). / Prvý Potônsky spis; Mrs. Mača, daughter of Potônski Vida ... / Koncsol László: Potônska zem - Vydavateľstvo Kaligram, Bratislava 1996 /. The village of Potônske Lúky has fantastic natural conditions, enchanting the natural environment, but apart from the impressive natural environment, it does not have any sights. Unfortunately, almost nothing has been preserved from traditional architecture (houses made of knitted wicker and clay, or objects made of unfired bricks, reeds). The village plans to build such a building from a traditional building material with original technology (regional house - local museum). Preserved utility tools, tools, objects, documents, photocopies and credible copies of original objects of the past would form an article of the mentioned object. The village until II. World War II was a typical solitude, namely 15-20 houses were located 150-200 m apart and had no infrastructural "gains". Horná Potôň-Lúky, the predecessor of Potônské Lúky, reached its greatest growth in the 1970s, when the population approached 500. Then the issuance of building permits in this part of Horná Potône froze, as a result of which young people did not have the opportunity to settle in their birthplace. , so they moved to nearby cities (Dunajská Streda, Šamorín, Bratislava). At present, the village has 70 families with a population of 240. Thanks to its impressive natural environment, the village is a popular place for recreation. This statement is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the number of cottagers is slowly already exceeding the number of tribal inhabitants. In the village there is a grave of a Hungarian soldier of the German army from II. World War II, which the village takes sufficient care of. The current socio-economic situation in the village is difficult. The former well-prospering farm is falling into disrepair and does not employ anyone from the village.

The unemployment rate exceeds the 30% limit. The demographic structure of the village is extremely unfavorable, obsolete. In order to improve the generational situation, the municipality built 14 rental apartments for young families with children, and carried out the reconstruction and expansion of the existing water supply network. Local citizens are engaged in agricultural activities, cattle and pig farming, beekeeping, growing cereals, fruits and vegetables. A significant event in the village was the establishment of the Dynamo Horná Potôň-Lúky Physical Education Unit in 1966. At that time, TJ had one club, a football club. The small village had great footballers who played excellent football at the time. In those times, the football team easily conquered the teams of Gabčíkov, Šamorín, Orechová Potône, Horná Potône, Lehnice, Vydran, Zlaté Klasov, Baky, Holíc, etc. In the seventies and early eighties played the highest district competition, II. class of the district Dunajská Streda. The village of Potônske Lúky is located on the Danubian Lowland in the heart of Žitný Ostrov on both banks of the Little Danube. The flora and fauna of the village today is still relatively rich and diverse. In the cadastre of the settlement, among other things, protected plants grow (white berries, motherwort, juniper, lungwort, etc.). The river gives good preconditions for waterfowl populations. The water purity condition is improving. Proof of this is that crayfish have appeared in the Little Danube. Until recently, the largest bird in Central Europe, a drop, also nested in the cadastre of the village. Recently, the meadow eagle has been pleasingly breeding in the area of the village. The main source of the population in the ancient past was fishing, felling and processing of wood from floodplain forests, making troughs and operating a large number of watermills on the Little Danube. A major handicap for the municipality is the high unemployment rate of the working population - currently 30%.
